The book covers fifty grand landscapes, from Krakatoa to Bora Bora, with stops at Urgüp, Niagara and Meteora. It provides facts about their fauna and flora, such as the white lizards of White Sands or the welwitschia of Namibia, and recalls the fragility of these natural monuments in the face of erosion and human action.
Subtitle on cover: «Un guide illustré des sites naturels». It was published on 23 June 1999.
