«Mayombe» is Pepetela's novel, published by Visión in hardback, in European Portuguese.
During Angola's war of independence, a group of MPLA guerrillas lives in the Mayombe jungle with the contradictions of their struggle: ideological and racial differences, power and human weaknesses. The novel reflects on revolution, Angolan identity, and the cost of liberation through the voices of the fighters.
For readers interested in contemporary African literature and in the history of decolonisation.
