«Max est timide» is the children's comic by Dominique de Saint Mars and Serge Bloch, published by Calligram in hardback (41 pages, in French).
Max enviously watches some children playing football and doesn't dare join in for fear of looking ridiculous. With humour and warmth, the story addresses shyness and insecurity, conveying that shy people aren't weak: they can regain confidence. The book invites discussion of everyday emotions and closes with questions for the reader.
Third volume in the 'Max et Lili' series, part of the 'Ainsi va la vie' collection. Recommended reading for children up to 9 years old.
Suitable for shared reading between parents and children, as a starting point for talking about shyness.
