«Marie-Antoinette l'insoumise» is the historical biography by Simone Bertière, published by Editions de Fallois in paperback (735 pages, in French).
A biography portraying Marie Antoinette through a critical rereading of sources, far from the legend that made her sweet and shy: rebellious against the servitudes of being queen, determined to live her own way, she achieves greatness in the final trial. It includes her mother, Maria Theresa, Louis XVI, and pre-revolutionary figures such as Mirabeau and Barnave.
Fourth volume of the series «Les Reines de France au temps des Bourbons», originally published in France in 2002. The cover indicates the prize «Prix des Maisons de la Presse 2002».
Of interest to readers of French history and royal biographies, as well as those seeking a documented view of Marie Antoinette and her era.
