«Madrid blues» is the contemporary fiction novel by Blanca Riestra, published by Alianza Editorial in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
One Sunday in March, on a Gran Vía bathed in deceptive sunlight, the fates of a journalist, a decorator, a lone child, an astrologer, a former footballer and an African bricklayer cross paths, among others, while Jusef Ahmed keeps a pistol in his pocket. Riestra composes a choral, melancholic tale that explores loneliness, thwarted dreams, the passage of time and the inexplicable harmony that sustains Madrid's inhabitants.
It belongs to the Alianza Literaria (AL) collection. First edition published on 28 April 2008.
