«Mademoiselle, s'il vous plaît !» is the novel by Claude Sarraute published by Flammarion in paperback, with 196 pages, in French.
Tatoune and Poupette are employees of a department store who share a counter and a fate. Poorly paid, on their feet all day and always under supervision, they must smile and please customers. Their friendship, with its quarrels and reconciliations, places them in the front row of the human comedy, and their detachment and good humour allow them to laugh at it.
The work was originally published in 1991; this paperback edition is from 1993.
For readers of French fiction who appreciate humour and social observation.
