«Los metales nocturnos» is the contemporary novel by Francisco Umbral, published by Editorial Planeta in hardback (200 pages, in Spanish).
One August night, a writer roams decadent, marginal Madrid in search of himself or, perhaps, just of the night itself. Around him, a web of prostitution, drugs, violence and extreme settings unfolds, taking him from literary supplements to crime pages, until he confronts his own identity.
First edition published on 3 October 2003 in Barcelona, in the Autores Españoles e Iberoamericanos collection.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in nocturnal, marginal Madrid.
Francisco Alejandro Pérez Martínez, better known as Francisco Umbral, was a Spanish journalist, novelist, biographer and essayist.
