«Los Caín» is the rural noir novel by Enrique Llamas, published by Alianza in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
In a Castilian village during the late Franco era, a young teacher from Madrid settles in. The place carries the memory of a girl drowned twenty years earlier and the death of a teenager who tried to flee, while an epidemic decimates the deer. Silence, snow and buried hatreds weave a dark tale.
First novel by Enrique Llamas, published in the AdN Alianza de Novelas collection. It won the 2018 Memorial Silverio Cañada prize for best noir debut.
For readers of noir and rural thrillers set in late-Franco Spain.
