«Long John Silver» is the historical adventure novel by Björn Larsson, published by Goldmann in paperback (475 pages, in German).
Björn Larsson imagines the memoirs of the famous one-legged pirate from Treasure Island. Now a rich old man in Madagascar, Long John Silver decides to tell his life story to escape oblivion: his origins as a sailor, a shipwreck, time aboard a slave ship, his escape, and his career as quartermaster under Captain Flint, always against authority and alongside the crew.
Translated from the Swedish by Jörg Scherzer; the original was published in 1995 and this German edition came out in 1999.
For those who enjoyed Treasure Island and seek a new perspective on pirate life.
Swedish writer, Professor Emeritus, French Studies, Centre for Languages and Literature, Lund University
