«Lettera a un amico ebreo» is the biographical account by Gian Franco Svidercoschi, published by Mondadori in paperback (104 pages, in Italian).
The friendship between Karol Wojtyła, future John Paul II, and the Jew Jerzy Kluger is the book's core. Kluger survived the war as a soldier, but his family died in the Holocaust; Poles suffered Nazi occupation. The appendix reproduces the Pope's letter to Kluger, in Polish and English, sent in 1989 in memory of the victims of Wadowice.
The cover adds the subtitle «La storia semplice e straordinaria dell'amico ebreo di Karol Wojtyła»; the first edition is from 1993.
For readers of John Paul II biographies, Holocaust history, and testimonies of Judeo-Christian friendship.
