«L'esprit et l'âme se tiennent étroitement unis» is a philosophical work by Lucrèce, published by Folio in paperback (96 pages, in French).
Lucrèce argues that the spirit and the soul form a single material substance and have their seat in the chest, where fear and joy manifest themselves. Heir to Epicurus and Democritus, the author offers a synthesis of ancient materialist thought and invites reflection on the body and the mind.
The work comes from De rerum natura, book three; this edition was published in 2011.
For readers of ancient philosophy interested in materialism and the relationship between body and mind.
