«Les vacances du petit Nicolas» is the children's storybook by Sempé and Goscinny, published by Gallimard in paperback (155 pages, in French).
Nicolas enjoys a family holiday on the coast: first at the Beau-Rivage hotel in Bains-les-Mers, with new friends and adventures on the beach and in the dining room; then at a summer camp. His escapades, told with childlike logic, mix humour, misunderstandings and tenderness, with illustrations by Sempé.
Third instalment of the Le Petit Nicolas series; the work was originally published in 1961. In the Folio Junior collection, with complete text and illustrations by Sempé.
Recommended for child and young adult readers; as it is in French, it is also an option for those who want to read the series in its original version.

Jean-Jacques Sempé, usually known as Sempé, was a French cartoonist. He is known for the series of children's books he created with René Goscinny, Le Petit Nicolas, and also for his poster-like illustrations, usually drawn from a distant or high viewpoint depicting detailed countrysides or cities. For decades, he created covers for The New Yorker.
