«Les Grands Initiés» is the essay on the secret history of religions by Edouard Schuré, published by Pocket in paperback (508 pages, in French).
The book studies great initiates —Rama, Krishna, Hermes, Moses, Orpheus, Pythagoras, Plato and Jesus— and the religious traditions they represent. It covers Brahmanic initiation, the mysteries of Egypt and Eleusis, the mission of Israel and that of Christ, in a journey through the esoteric tradition where science and religion are reconciled.
Work originally published in 1889 under the title «Les Grands Initiés: Esquisse de l'histoire secrète des religions»; this Pocket edition dates from 1983.
Aimed at readers interested in esotericism, history of religions and mysticism.
