«Les bâtards du Soleil» is the historical novel by Eve de Castro, published by Olivier Orban in paperback (558 pages, in French).
It reconstructs the story of Louis XIV's illegitimate children, born to Louise de La Vallière and Madame de Montespan, legitimised and married at court. During the reign of the Sun King and the Regency, they played a prominent role in politics and court life, amid splendour, passions, intrigues, glory and downfall. Eve de Castro narrates their rise and decline up to the early years of Louis XV with exhaustive research.
Published in Paris in 1987, the work includes a final bibliography (pages 551-558) and is classified under History and Literature and Fiction.
