«Les baisers» is the love novel by writer Manuel Vilas, published by Points in paperback (456 pages, in French).
Salvador, a 58-year-old teacher, shuts himself away in a cabin in the woods during the March 2020 lockdown. There he meets Montserrat, fifteen years his junior, and an unexpected, passionate and sensual romance blossoms between them. The relationship becomes an act of resistance against isolation, while Salvador rereads Don Quixote and even calls Montserrat Altisidora, after the Cervantine character.
Originally published as «Los besos», this French translation appeared on 12 January 2024.
