Synopsis of Le soleil de la vallée noire

Lucien, the youngest child of the Baron de la Motte des Ouches, finds refuge in the great oak tree on the family estate. Overwhelmed by his mother and deprived of any freedom, he can only count on the support and affection of his brother Jean. When they decide to defy the rules to explore the river, Lucien's life changes forever. After his brother is punished and sent to England, Lucien, unable to bear his mother's authority any longer, decides to escape and forge his own path.
