«Le secret de Lucas» is a graded reader in French by Isabelle Darras, published by Klett Ernst / Schulbuch in paperback (24 pages).
The protagonist, Lucas, a thirteen-year-old boy, gets on well with his mother and gets good grades, but at school his classmates pick on him because of his overweight. Only to his diary does he confide what no one knows: he wants to gain even more weight.
The work, published in 2004, belongs to Klett's Lectures françaises collection and is intended for the second year of French (Lernjahr 2), with vocabulary and structures appropriate to that level.
An option for second-year French students, especially for secondary school pupils who want to practise reading in the language.
