«Le Prophète» is the poetic and philosophical work by Khalil Gibran, published by Actes Sud in paperback (112 pages, in French).
Al-Mustafa, a sage who, before departing after twelve years in Orfalese, answers the questions of its inhabitants about love, work, joy, pain, or death. His answers, in parables and poetic aphorisms, blend echoes of Christianity, Sufism, and Buddhism into an invitation to self-knowledge and communion with life.
Work originally published in 1923; this French edition came out in 2004 in the Babel collection by Actes Sud, translated from English and introduced by Antoine Ghattas Karam.
For readers interested in philosophy, spirituality, and wisdom literature, as well as in twentieth-century classics of poetic prose.
