«Le machin» is the children's picture book by Stéphane Servant and Cécile Bonbon, published by Didier Jeunesse in paperback (32 pages, in French).
Bobo the elephant finds a strange object and declares it a hat; his friends see it differently: Kiki the alligator thinks it's a cape, Zaza the sheep, a skirt, and Juju the duck, a scarf. The story, framed as a riddle, invites readers to imagine what the object is for, with fabric illustrations that play with shapes and colours.
Text by Stéphane Servant and illustrations by Cécile Bonbon. The 2007 edition is aimed at children aged 0 to 5.
The humour and riddle structure make this picture book suitable reading for the youngest.
