«L'autre Joseph» is the historical novel by Kéthévane Davrichewy, published by Sabine Wespieser Editeur in paperback (276 pages, in French).
It reconstructs the childhood and youth of Joseph Davrichachvili, the author's great-grandfather, who grew up in Gori alongside Iosif Djougachvili, the future Stalin. It combines family memory and history: the physical resemblance between the two, rumours of kinship, his education in Tiflis and the 1905 revolution, as their destinies diverge.
Published in 2016, it joins La Mer Noire (2010), Les Séparées (2012) and Quatre murs (2014), the author's previous works at Sabine Wespieser Éditeur.
Reading for fans of historical fiction and biography, especially those interested in Stalin, the revolutionary period and the history of Georgia.
Kéthévane Davrichewy is a French writer of Georgian origin.
