«Las ninfas» is a novel by Francisco Umbral with a prologue by Gonzalo Santonja, published by Bibliotex in hardback (191 pages, in Spanish).
A boy remembers, during a summer night, his childhood and the passage of time as he grows up amid the ambition to stand out, romantic desire, and experiences shared with his friends. Umbral's novel turns that adolescent memory into a story about the loss of childhood and the discovery of maturity.
It belongs to the collection «Las 100 mejores novelas del castellano del siglo XX» from Biblioteca El Mundo. The novel won the Premio Nadal in 1975.
Francisco Alejandro Pérez Martínez, better known as Francisco Umbral, was a Spanish journalist, novelist, biographer and essayist.
