«Lady, ma vie de chienne» is the young adult novel by Melvin Burgess, published by Gallimard in paperback (236 pages, in French).
Sandra is a British teenager with an out-of-control life of alcohol, drugs and sex. After a street fight, a vagrant turns her into a dog: as Lady, she must live on the streets guided by instinct, torn between her animal urges and her human memories. It is a raw allegory about freedom, responsibility and life on the streets.
This French edition belongs to the Scripto collection and was translated from English by Laetitia Devaux; the original title is «Lady: My Life as a Bitch» (2001).
For young and adult readers who want a provocative urban fable about the transition to adulthood.

Melvin Burgess is a British writer of children's fiction. He became famous in 1996 with the publication of Junk, about heroin-addicted teenagers on the streets of Bristol. In Britain, Junk became one of the best-known young adult books of the decade. Burgess won the annual Carnegie Medal from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book by a British author. For the 10th anniversary in 2007 it was named one of the top ten Medal-winning works, selected by a panel to compose the ballot for a public election of the all-time favourite.
