«La tierra negra» is the graphic novel by Luis Durán, published by Edicions de Ponent in paperback (72 pages, in Spanish).
Set in the Middle Ages, the work narrates the journey of two characters seeking knowledge as they cross lands devastated by war, plague and famine. The black-and-white drawing with greys shows stylised figures and night skies that accentuate the sense of desolation dominating the narrative.
«La tierra negra» is issue 13 of the «Sol y sombra» collection. Luis Durán (Oñate, 1967), artist and writer, won the Best New Author award at the Barcelona Comic Fair in 2001.
For readers of historical graphic narrative and Spanish authors, with a special interest in the Middle Ages.
