«La Succession» is the novel by Jean-Paul Dubois, published by Éditions de l'Olivier in paperback (240 pages, in French).
Paul Katrakilis lives in Miami, where jai alai is not enough to dispel his feeling of being an outsider. His father's death takes him to France to confront the memory of his eccentric family: his grandfather, Stalin's doctor, fled the USSR with a fragment of his brain. Secret diaries reveal to him the meaning of his inheritance.
Original edition published on 18 August 2016; work of contemporary literature and fiction.
Jean-Paul Dubois is a French journalist and author. He won the Prix Goncourt in 2019 for Tous les hommes n'habitent pas le monde de la même façon, a novel told from the perspective of a prisoner looking back on life. The jury compared Dubois to John Irving and William Boyd, who wrote books that were both popular and critical successes.
