«La Reina» is the biography of Queen Sofía written by Pilar Urbano, published by Plaza & Janés in hardback (368 pages, in Spanish).
The book stems from Queen Sofía's wish that Spaniards get to know her. Pilar Urbano talked with her for a year and a half and, with testimonies from her circle —Princesses Irene and Tatiana, King Constantine and Juan Carlos I—, reveals the woman behind the royal figure: the most important episodes of her life, told in the first person.
The original edition dates from 1996 and features an illustrated dust jacket and photographic plates in colour and black and white.
The book is aimed at readers interested in the Spanish monarchy, the figure of Queen Sofía and the recent history of Spain.
Pilar Urbano Casaña is a Spanish journalist and writer.
