«La pendaison» is Jean Laffitte's testimony about his deportation to Mauthausen, published by Julliard in paperback (316 pages, in French).
The author recalls his deportation to Mauthausen during the Second World War and reconstructs daily life in the camp: the arrival, the violence of the guards, hunger, disease and executions. Faced with this horror, the account also shows solidarity among prisoners and the strategies of resistance and survival that allowed some deportees to come out alive.
With a preface by André Lacaze. Published in 1983; classified as a testimony about the Mauthausen concentration camp within the history of the Second World War.
For those seeking direct testimonies about deportation and life in concentration camps during the Second World War.
