«La oveja negra y demás fábulas» is a collection of fables by Augusto Monterroso, published by Punto de Lectura in hardback (80 pages, in Spanish).
La oveja negra y demás fábulas brings together very brief stories in which humour, irony and economy of means combine to address the human condition, society and politics. The apparent simplicity of the stories conceals a critical and suggestive gaze that invites readers to pause and rethink each piece.
«La oveja negra y demás fábulas» originally appeared in 1969. The cover of the Punto de Lectura edition shows the mention of the 2000 Prince of Asturias Award for Literature.
A work suitable for those who enjoy short fiction, irony and twentieth-century Latin American literature.
