«La nación inventada» is the historical essay by Ignacio Escolar and Arsenio Escolar, published by Booket in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
The book explains how the triumphant Castile of the thirteenth century built its national identity on myths, exaggerations and half-truths that persist in popular culture. Ignacio Escolar and Arsenio Escolar trace the history of the kingdom, from its difficult birth to the reigns of Ferdinand III and Alfonso X, separating reality from legend.
This Booket edition was published in October 2013 in the Historia collection, and the book is classified as medieval and general history.
For readers of popular history interested in the peninsular Middle Ages, the formation of Castile and the origin of Spanish national myths.
