Synopsis of La misión

La misión es una novela escrita por Robert Bolt, ambientada en el siglo XVIII en la selva misionera y las cataratas del Iguazú. La historia sigue a dos padres jesuitas que luchan por proteger a la Misión de la orden papal de entregar la tierra a los portugueses. Uno de los jesuitas, de origen irlandés, guía a los indios a través de la oración, mientras que el otro, un antiguo traficante de esclavos español, quebranta su voto de obediencia para ayudarles a combatir. La novela fue laureada con la Palma de Oro en el Festival de Cannes y nominada para los Oscars de 1987.

Robert Oxton Bolt was an English playwright and a screenwriter, known for writing the screenplays for Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and A Man for All Seasons, the latter two of which won him the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also was the recipient of a Tony Award, two BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Laurence Olivier Award.
