«La meccanica del cuore» is the fantasy and romance novel by Mathias Malzieu, published by Feltrinelli in paperback (160 pages, in Italian).
Jack is born in 1874 in Edinburgh with a frozen heart; the midwife Madeleine implants a cuckoo clock in him to keep him alive. Strong emotions can break the fragile prosthesis, but the voice of an Andalusian singer makes him fall in love at age ten. With the illusionist Georges Méliès he travels to Granada in a fable about love and the risk of feeling.
It belongs to the Universale economica collection (no. 8162) by Feltrinelli. Published in 2013, translated by Cinzia Poli.
For readers of romantic and fantastical fables who enjoy visual atmospheres in the style of Tim Burton and coming-of-age stories.
Mathias Malzieu is a French singer, co-founder of the band Dionysos, as well as a scriptwriter, film director and writer.
