«La gaviota / El jardín de los cerezos» is the theatre volume by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, published by Planeta in paperback (128 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together two landmark titles of Russian theatre: La gaviota and El jardín de los cerezos. In both works, Chekhov addresses social decline, frustration and the search for meaning through complex characters and subtle dialogues, with a keen eye for silences and seemingly ordinary lives.
It belongs to the Clásicos Universales Planeta collection (no. 19); the introduction is by Enrique Llovet and the translation by Augusto Vidal.
This volume will appeal to readers of classical theatre, literature students and fans of Russian dramaturgy.

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was a Russian playwright and short story writer. Widely considered one of the greatest writers of all time, his career as a playwright produced four classics, and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics. Along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, Chekhov is often referred to as one of the three seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in the theatre. Chekhov was a physician by profession. "Medicine is my lawful wife," he once said, "and literature is my mistress."
