«La fàbrica de mentides» is the young adult science fiction novel by David Cirici, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (128 pages, in Catalan).
In an icy city, a group of teenagers lives surrounded by simulacra, slave labour and a dream machine that feeds fantasies. Memory and friendship pull them out of apathy; with a stubborn old man they wake the city from deception. Science fiction becomes an allegory of loneliness, escapism and the numbness of modern life.
It belongs to the L'ODISSEA collection from Editorial Empúries. The work won the Premi Crítica Serra d'Or for children's and young adult literature in 1996 and was nominated for the Premi Protagonista Jove in 1997.
Aimed at young readers and science fiction fans interested in social allegory and memory as a driver of change.
