The author dies in the very first line. As he hovers over the 'Douane de mer' in Venice with a sense of melancholy, he encounters a spirit from Urql, a distant galaxy, who has come to study the universe. The spirit, named A, observes with astonishment a planet he knows nothing about. The deceased, O, decides to present the world to his new friend before leaving for an unknown destination. For three days, A and O travel through space and time, writing a report on Earth and humanity for the people of Urql.
