«La dernière larme» is the short story collection by Stefano Benni, published by Actes Sud in paperback (232 pages, in French).
Twenty-seven stories portray with irony and fantasy the ills of Berlusconi's Italy —media voyeurism, xenophobia, the arrogance of the far right— and other universal human flaws. Stefano Benni blends the real and the fantastic in a lucid chronicle of modernity, with humour and verbal invention that evoke Swift.
Original Italian title: L'ultima lacrima (1994). French translation by Marguerite Pozzoli. French edition published in 2009.
For readers of short fiction and social satire who appreciate fantastic humour and political critique.
