«La clienta» is the contemporary novel by Pierre Assouline, published in 2000 by Columna CAT in paperback.
A biographer researching the life of a writer stumbles upon thousands of denunciation letters written during the German occupation of France. One of them concerns a shopkeeper friend whose family was deported. The file names the informer, but not his motives; revealing them could reopen an old wound.
The work was originally published in 1998 and belongs to Columna's Clàssica collection, number 355.
For readers of contemporary fiction interested in moral dilemmas and the memory of the occupation.
