In the 27th century, humanity has conquered the galaxy, establishing two hundred and fifty inhabited worlds within the Federation. Fifteen of these planets enjoy a special status, living in total autarky through recreations of eras from Earth's history. On Albidan, Guntray Marshall seeks an ancient extraterrestrial relic, proof of a vanished civilization, while on Boxtown, Roseta Ming leads a large industrial group. Monk Wilson, on a mission on the asteroid Alliance, tries to understand the future of the Federation in its struggle against the Churches to impose the Maltâme religion.
