«Komunista.com» is the young adult novel by Joan Mari Irigoien Aranberri, published by Elkar in paperback (196 pages, in Basque).
Three generations of women form a peculiar family: Kontxi, the fighting grandmother; Teresa, mired in doubt; and Inés, who wants to be a model and appear on television. With humour and social criticism, the work addresses social change, the power of the media and imposed aesthetic standards. The title, with the '.com', sums up that mix of ideals and confusion.
Eighth instalment of the Taupadak series, published in 2005. Basque edition recommended for readers aged 12 to 16.
For young people seeking stories with humour and social awareness, and for those interested in Basque narrative in the Basque language.
