«Knocking On» is the humorous novel by Christopher Matthew, published by John Murray in hardback (211 pages, in English).
The book resumes the diary of Simon Crisp, the man of the world from Mitcham who fancies himself a great diarist of our times, following the episodes of «Diary of a Somebody» broadcast on Radio 4. With humour and irony, Simon recounts his daily life, his observations and his little stories, in a satire of contemporary England.
First edition of 2001; the cover cites «Now We Are Sixty» as a previous work by Christopher Matthew.
A book for those who enjoy humorous fiction and satirical diaries, especially if they appreciate British humour and everyday characters.
Christopher Charles Forrest Matthew is a British writer and broadcaster. He is the author of Now We Are Sixty, inspired by the poems of A. A. Milne in the book Now We Are Six, and the chronicler of the life and times of the hapless hero, Simon Crisp, in Diary of a Somebody.
