«Juana la Loca» is the historical novel by Guillem Viladot, published in 1994 by Apóstrofe in paperback (199 pages, in Spanish).
The work recreates the figure of Joanna of Castile and argues that her well-known madness may have been, in reality, a facade behind which a conflict over the throne was hidden. Harassed by the ambitions of her mother, her father, her husband and, later, her son Charles, Joanna ends up a hostage to the interests of the State.
First edition in the «Novela histórica» collection by Apóstrofe, work of the writer Guillem Viladot (1922-1999).
For readers of historical fiction interested in the figure of Joanna the Mad and the power struggles in Castile.
