«Infern: Els cants de les terres dividides» is the young adult science fiction and fantasy novel by Francesco Gungui, published by Fan Books in paperback (400 pages, in Catalan).
The story places Alec and Maj in a world divided between the rich who live in Paradise and the poor who survive on humiliating jobs. Crimes are punished in the Hell devised by Dante in the Divine Comedy, with fire rains, rivers of lava and monstrous animals, all broadcast on television as a deterrent. When Maj is sent there on a false accusation, Alec becomes the first volunteer to enter to rescue her.
It is the first volume in the series Cants de les Terres Dividides, translated from the Italian by M. Dolors Ventós Navés.
Suitable for young readers aged 14 and up, especially for those seeking young adult dystopias with social and romantic undertones.
