«Il paziente inglese» is the war and romance novel by Michael Ondaatje, published by Garzanti in paperback (327 pages, in Italian).
At the end of the Second World War, four people come together in a ruined Italian villa: a Canadian nurse, a Sikh sapper, a tortured thief and the «English patient», a burned man. From his ravings and memories emerge a love affair in the desert and the scars of war, where truth and memory blur.
Italian translation of the original novel The English Patient (1992), by Marco Papi, published in the «Gli elefanti» collection.
For readers of historical and romantic fiction who want to read in Italian the novel on which the film that won nine Academy Awards is based.
Philip Michael Ondaatje is a Ceylon-born Canadian poet, fiction writer and essayist.
