«Il figlio del venditore di stracci» is the autobiography of Kirk Douglas, published by Rizzoli in paperback (464 pages, in Italian).
Kirk Douglas, born Issur Danielovitch Demsky, recalls his childhood as the son of an illiterate Russian-Jewish immigrant who sold rags and scrap metal. That poor, hard childhood, he maintains, marked his entire life: his decisions as an actor, his role as a father, and his way of understanding himself as a man. The account extends to his time as a Hollywood star.
The subtitle is «Una vita come un film». The original English title is «The Ragman's Son». The Italian Rizzoli edition is from 1989.
For readers interested in biographies of classic Hollywood stars and stories of personal overcoming.
