«Icaria, Icaria...» is the historical novel by Xavier Benguerel, published by Planeta in hardback (290 pages, in Spanish).
The action takes place in the nineteenth century and follows a group of characters determined to build a utopian community in a remote place. As they try to construct an ideal society, their convictions clash with social conflicts and the harshness of reality. Benguerel thus explores the aspiration to perfection, the weight of human relationships and the fragility of collective ideals.
First edition. Winner of the Premio Planeta in 1974. Translated from Catalan into Spanish by the author himself; belongs to Planeta's Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos collection.
For readers interested in twentieth-century Spanish fiction and utopian novels with a social background.
