«How Elephants Lost Their Wings» is an Indian folk tale by Lesley Sims, published by Usborne Books in hardback (32 pages, in English).

According to this traditional tale, elephants did not always live on land: at first they had wings and flew, though their fondness for flying caused no small amount of trouble. Adapted for early readers, the story tells how they ended up losing those wings and includes some puzzles at the end.
