Històries de la mà esquerra (Premio Joan Santamaría 1971) es la primera recopilación de narraciones de Jesús Moncada. A caballo entre realidad y sueño, mitos y supersticiones, el autor recrea sus recuerdos de infancia y de juventud en el marco de la antigua población de Mequinensa. Pere Calders escribió en el prólogo: "Moncada quería rescatar con la palabra una cosa muy entrañable que le robaban, y dejar constancia escrita para que no se perdiese del todo. Las primeras narraciones me interesaron profundamente. Significaban una aportación muy personal, muy considerable, a nuestra literatura."
