«Gone» is the dystopian science fiction novel by Michael Grant, published by Pocket Jeunesse in paperback (672 pages, in French).
Everyone over fifteen disappears suddenly, and the young people of Perdido, California, must survive alone. Sam, aged fourteen, faces the need to organise the others: look after the little ones, find food and stop the bullies. Some develop powers they cannot control, while supernatural dangers and mutated animals lurk.
First instalment of the «Gone» saga, published in 2012 in French with translation by Julie Lafon.
Aimed at young readers aged 12 and up, especially those who enjoy dystopias, suspense and characters with powers.

Michael Grant was an English classicist, Professor of Humanity at the University of Edinburgh, numismatist, and author of numerous books on ancient history. His 1956 translation of Tacitus's Annals of Imperial Rome remains a standard of the work. Having studied and held a number of academic posts in the United Kingdom and the Middle East, he retired early to write full-time. He once described himself as "one of the very few freelancers in the field of ancient history: a rare phenomenon". As a populariser, his hallmarks were his prolific output and his unwillingness to oversimplify or talk down to his readership. He published over 70 works.
