«Frida Kahlo. Ein leidenschaftliches Leben» is the biography of Frida Kahlo written by Hayden Herrera, in paperback, published by Knaur in German.
The starting point is the serious accident that marked Frida Kahlo and left her immobilised for months; it was then that she began to paint as a way to release her fear and pain. Herrera traces her life and analyses her work in detail.
The original was published in English in 1983 as «Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo»; the German edition of 2002 is revised and expanded.
It is aimed at those interested in the life and work of Frida Kahlo, Mexican art and the history of twentieth-century art.
Hayden Herrera is an American author and historian. Her book Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo was turned into a movie in 2002 and Herrera's biography Arshile Gorky: His Life and Work was named a finalist for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography.
