Frederick is a children's story written and illustrated by Leo Lionni. The story follows a field mouse named Frederick who, instead of helping to gather food for the winter like the others, dedicates himself to collecting sunbeams, colors, and words. When winter comes and the provisions run out, Frederick shares his provisions, comforting his fellow mice with his poetry and his vision of the world.

Leo Lionni was an American writer and illustrator of children's books.
