«Fra Junoy o l'agonia dels sons» is the novel by Jaume Cabré published by Labutxaca in paperback format (288 pages, in Catalan).
Fra Junoy, an organist assigned as confessor in an enclosed monastery, opposes the severe punishment imposed on two novices and is accused of heresy, vice and corruption. Music, his intimate and creative refuge, becomes one of his crimes; his independence of judgement clashes with intolerance.
This Catalan edition was published in 2016 within the Labutxaca narrativa collection.
For readers of contemporary Catalan fiction who appreciate stories of individual conscience, intolerance and music as a refuge.
