«Erewhon» is the satirical novel by Samuel Butler published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback, with 316 pages in Spanish.
A traveller discovers Erewhon, an isolated society whose name is almost 'nowhere' reversed. In this apparently utopian world, Butler exposes institutions that invert Victorian notions of crime, illness, religion and progress, and with irony turns social criticism into a reflection on the values of his time.
2000 edition with a presentation by Fernando Savater, a foreword by Gabriel Jackson and a translation by Ogier Preteceille. First instalment of the Erewhon series; original work from 1872.
For readers of nineteenth-century classics, social satire and utopian or dystopian fiction.

Samuel Butler was an English novelist and critic, best known for the satirical utopian novel Erewhon (1872) and the semi-autobiographical novel The Way of All Flesh. Both novels have remained in print since their initial publication. In other studies he examined Christian orthodoxy, evolutionary thought, and Italian art, and made prose translations of the Iliad and Odyssey that are still consulted.
